Education

Two years ago, QAAD was given a legacy for the specific purpose of making an alcohol education film for young people. We wanted it to be done in a way that would involve young people and feel relevant to them, so we approached Sibford School to discuss how this could be done within a Quaker ethos.  Lianna Pim, then a Media Studies A Level Student at the school, planned and made a film as part of her studies.

The DVD is 11 minutes long and ranges widely; it is particularly suitable for the 12-17 age range.  It can be used flexibly, either as a prompt for free discussion or in a more structured way.  Some of the Journeys in the Spirit material (see below) relates to the film.

Alcohol and Drugs material for use with young Friends

Over the years, QAAD has worked with young Friends to produce sessions on alcohol and other drugs that meet their needs for information and reflection.  QAAD has now collaborated with the Children and Young Person’s Team at Friends House to contribute material on alcohol and drugs to the ‘Journeys in the Spirit’ series.   It explores the social, personal and spiritual dimensions of substance use in a way that enables young Friends to share their own experiences.
